Independent Field Programs by
Schools or Youth Groups
School Group Permit
- Schools (Kindergarten to Grade 12) are required to have a
permit IF conduting a program in Kananskis County WITHOUT the
assistance of KC environmental education staff.
- There is NO fee for the permit.
- The permit covers the full school year.
- A permit application can be submitted by an individual
school OR the school district can apply for one permit to
cover all schools within that district.
The school group permit package has the school
group permit form, general info, permit conditions and post field
trip report form.
Group Size Limits & Trails
- Some trails in Kananaskis Country have group size limits,
either 15 people or 35 people.
- To determine if a trail has a limit and what that limit is,
check the specific trail description under Trails or look in
the group size limit list.
- Some trails have different group size limits for different
sections of the trail. If the "Group Size Limit" in the trail
description states "15/35", please contact the Guiding/Instructing
Permits Coordinator for clarification.
- A school or group planning an independent field trip should
confirm group size limits before applying for a permit.
