Swan Festival kick-off

  • Saturday, April 26 6:30 p.m.- 10:00 p.m. at Centre 2000 in Grande Prairie 
  • John Cornely (Senior Conservation Advisor and former Refuge Biologist) speaking on "The Trumpeter Swan Story in North America: A Remarkable Wildlife Conservation Story" 
  • Music, silent auction and wine & cheese social to follow
  • Admission is by donation to the Friends of Saskatoon Island.  All proceeds will support environmental education, nature preservation and stewardship at Saskatoon Island Provincial Park.

Swan Festivities

  • Sunday, April 27 12:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m in Saskatoon Island Day Use Area
  • Family activities including crafts and face-painting
  • Barbeque: $5/soup & drink, $4/hotdog & drink, $2/treat, $2/drink

Swan-Viewing Guided Bus Tours

  • Sunday, April 27 with tours departing every 30 minutes from 12:30 p.m. to 3:30 p.m from Saskatoon Island Day Use Area
  • Tours approximately 1.5 hours long, led by Alberta Parks staff and volunteers 
  • Cost $5/person or $20/family

Seniors' Swan-Viewing Bus Tours

  • Taking place April 15-24
  • Buses will pick seniors up from registered senior homes for guided swan tours.
  • The tours finish at the Beaverlodge Cultural Centre for tea and treats.
