Notice: Travel in White Goat Wilderness Area is by foot only; open fires are prohibited; hunting and fishing are prohibited; all litter and refuse must be packed out; human waste should be buried at least 60 metres away from any water source.

Recreation Notes

Camping: random backcountry camping only - there are no developed facilities in White Goat Wilderness Area.

Hiking: access from the east is at the junction of Hwy. 11 and the Cline River; access from the southwest is along Norman Creek off Hwy. 93; access from the north is via Nigel Creek trailhead near Sunwapta Pass on Hwy. 93; most routes originated as pack trails and are not maintained; it is a 4-5 hour hike to the wilderness area boundary from access points; topograhic maps for the area - NTS 1:50,000 scale 83C/1-Whiterabbit Creek, 83C/2-Cline River, 83C/3-Columbia Icefield, 83C/6-Sunwapta Peak, 83C/7-Job Creek.

Important note: inform family or friends of your intended route and expected return time; horses and mountain bikes are prohibited in wilderness areas.
