William A. Switzer Provincial Park is a lovely, uncrowded alternative to the Rocky Mountain parks. The park is nestled in the foothills 21 kilometres northwest of Hinton on Highway 40. Switzer encompasses more than 63 square kilometres and has a relatively undisturbed character. Pine, spruce and aspen forests surround the park's chain of five small lakes. Many animals live in the park including grizzly and black bears, wolves, lynx, cougar, moose, elk, deer, beavers and 122 species of birds.
