Non-Standard Refund Policies and Requests

Changes or cancellations that follow the policies in the Online Purchase Information should not be submitted through these request forms. Changes and cancellations completed prior to the windows outlined in the Online Purchase Information will be automatically refunded to the card used for the original transaction within 5-7 business days, minus transaction fees. Transaction fees are only refunded in the event of a closure. If you do not automatically receive a refund within 7 days, Contact Us.

Please select the appropriate form below to request non-standard refunds that do not meet the change or cancellation policies outlined in the Online Purchase Information. Carefully read through the list of circumstances that are eligible and not eligible before submitting a request.

    Camping Reservations Non-Standard Refund Requests

Changes and cancellations that follow the policies in the Online Purchase Information can be made:

Refund requests that do not meet the change or cancellation policies are assessed individually, including for extenuating circumstances. Applying does not guarantee a refund. You must apply within 90 days of your scheduled arrival date and show that you have:

    • Cancelled or changed your reservation.
    • Have grounds for a refund according to the policies outlined below.

Not eligible for a refund request

The following circumstances are NOT eligible for a refund. It is your responsibility to review advisories, weather and wildfire smoke conditions before the change or cancellation window.

Advisories (Air quality, water advisories, fire bans, etc.)

This includes but is not limited to boil water advisories and air quality due to wildfire smoke.

    Error making a reservation

Errors that customers make on their reservations (e.g. booking an incorrect location, site or dates). However, if a technical problem in our reservation system causes an error, we will consider a refund. For more information, see incorrect charges.

Equipment failure or change of plans

Death of an immediate family member

An immediate family member is defined as parent or parental guardian, spouse, child, grandchild, grandparent, brother, sister, father-in-law, mother-in-law, daughter-in-law, son-in-law, and any other relative permanently residing in the same household.

    Incorrect charges

In rare cases, a system error may occur that causes incorrect charges, or incorrect information is listed on Shop.AlbertaParks.ca and verified by Park staff as incorrect (e.g. camping unit size, site type). In these cases, you may be eligible for a refund of any extra fees charged to you in error. Errors you make while booking, such as booking incorrect location or dates, are not grounds for a refund.

    Major medical emergency

If any member of the camping party has a major medical emergency within the cancellation or change window, which requires medical attention at a hospital emergency room, preventing the camper from fulfilling their reservation.

    Services down

If services at the campsite you booked, such as power hook-up or water hook-up, are paid for and verified by Parks staff as not available during the camping stay.

Closed facilities and/or amenities not included in the paid camping fees, such as shower-houses, flush toilets, Visitor Centres, etc., are not considered services down. Refunds will not be provided in these circumstances.

    Unusable campsite

If Parks staff deem your campsite unusable or unsafe for use, or if campsite access is impeded due to a campground event (e.g. fallen tree in the site).

If a Kananaskis Conservation Pass that has already started is refunded and you do not purchase a new pass to visit the Kananaskis Conservation Pass area, you are at risk of receiving a fine.
