Southwest Alberta Parks has many environmental education offerings, ranging from kindergarten to Grade 12. From Lethbridge to the Crowsnest Pass, programs are available across a variety of southern Alberta's most beautiful landscapes! From field studies, winter programs, and classroom programs, there’s something for everyone — wherever you are!
Our school programs are linked to Alberta Education curriculum and led by enthusiastic and knowledgeable Alberta Parks interpreters. While programs are designed with specific landscapes in mind, some programs may be adapted to a different park or local natural area near you! Inquire when booking.

Availability
- All programs must be pre-booked, either by phone or email. Bookings are made on a first come, first served basis.
- Environmental Education bookings are open all year round.
- Mobility assistance and adapted programs are available. Please inquire when booking.
- Please note that some programs may be shortened to accommodate school bus times or travel distance.
Fees, Class Size and Cancellation Policy
- No school is turned away due to financial restraints. Please inquire when booking.
- The maximum group size is 25 students (grades 1-3), 30 students (grades 4-6), and 40 students (grades 7-12) per program / per Alberta Parks Educator.
- Programs will run rain, snow, or shine, however some programs may be cancelled due to inclement weather (lightning storm / hail) or extreme temperatures, depending on the nature and duration of the program. Schools will be notified 48 hours in advance should programs be cancelled due to inclement weather and an alternative date will be proposed. A refund may be issued if no alternate date is available.
- Schools must give 1 week notice of program date to cancel and obtain a refund or reschedule.

Field Trip Preparation
There’s no bad weather, only bad clothing! Please ensure that students are dressed for a comfortable and successful day outside. "Must haves" include:
- Clothing appropriate for the weather conditions (expect to be outside for 4 hours)
- Water Bottle
- Lunch (no microwave on site! Expect to eat outside)
- Closed toe shoes (no sandals please)
- Sunscreen and bug spray depending on the season
