Stories in Stone

What stories are written in the rocks of the mountain landscape? How can they tell us how Earth has changed over millions of years? In this immersive field program, students study the dramatic layers of Turtle Mountain and uncover the story of the land through hands-on science. Students will examine real fossils, investigate rocks and minerals with simple tests, and discover what the land can teach us about the past, connecting geology, life, and the forces that shaped Alberta’s landscapes.
