In 2012, Alberta Parks received a proposal from the MD of Bonnyville to expand the Kinosoo Ridge Ski Hill within their current lease at French Bay Provincial Recreation Area.

The Municipal District of Bonnyville's Kinosoo Ridge Snow Resort currently operates on leased land within French Bay Provincial Recreation Area. No new park lands outside of their existing lease area would be affected. The proposed expansion would include the removal of the existing T-bar lift and its replacement with a new chair lift, the creation and installation of a new tube park that would be operational only during the winter months, and the creation and installation of an "Adventure Park Ropes Course" which will be operational primarily in the summer months.

Feedback was gathered during a 60 day online public comment period that ended March 8^th, 2013. The province took all comments into consideration along with historical and environmental reviews, before making a decision.  Alberta Parks would like to thank everyone who provided feedback on the proposal.

What We Heard:

• There were no significant concerns expressed during the public comment period in regards to the expansion of the Kinosoo Ridge Ski Hill.

 Resulting Decision:

• Alberta Parks has approved the proposal by the MD of Bonnyville to expand the Kinosoo Ridge Ski Hill.
• A letter of Authority has been issued to the MD of Bonnyville approving the expansion of the Kinosoo Ridge Ski Hill. Construction for this project has begun moving forward.
