As part of our commitment to rebuilding flood affected facilities and keeping Albertans informed, Alberta Parks is providing notice on the Elbow Valley Flood Projects.
In 2013 heavy rains in southern Alberta caused flooding along the Elbow River that resulted in damage to facilities in the Elbow Valley area of the Kananaskis Region. The flood affected several day use areas including Allen Bill, Elbow Falls, Cobble Flats, Forgetmenot Pond and Nihahi Trailhead. Alberta Parks took a regional planning approach to the Elbow Valley by considering the visitor use requirements for the area and designed each facility with the regional context in mind.
