The Government of Alberta's Ministry of Tourism, Parks and Recreation, has released a Draft Management Plan for OH Ranch Heritage Rangeland on September 15, 2008 for public review and comment. This review period has ended
OH Ranch Heritage Rangeland was designated under the Wilderness Areas, Ecological Reserves, Natural Areas, and Heritage Rangelands Act on August 27, 2008.
The heritage rangeland is located on public land leased by the OH Ranch near the Village of Longview approximately one hour south of Calgary. This designation celebrates and continues a legacy of range management that is over a century old. It also contributes to the goals of provincial government's draft Land Use Framework.
The OH Ranch Heritage Rangeland covers public land that is currently leased, public access to the proposed heritage rangeland requires permission from the lessee. More information on the regulations for recreating on leased public land can be found on the Sustainable Resource Development website.
