As part of our ongoing commitments to provide quality recreational opportunities and keeping Albertans informed, Alberta Parks is providing notice of changes to the Bow River Campground. This project is part of the Government of Alberta’s commitment to modernize and improve recreational facilities in protected areas.

With the increasing popularity of camping in the Bow Valley and the demand for budget accommodations in Canmore, an additional 28 campsites will be added to the Bow River Campground. The majority of these sites will be serviced RV sites with a few being designed specifically for walk-in tenting. A comfort camping station with running water, power, and sewer will also be added to the campground. These additions will increase the comfort of the Bow River Campground, making it accessible and available to more Albertans.

To minimize disturbance to the surrounding landscape and to facilitate construction, all new development will be contained within the existing footprint of the campground.

Specifics of this project include:

• 21 new serviced RV sites; 7 new walk-in tent sites
• Upgrades to existing roads and construction of a new road to access new sites
• Construction of a new concrete washroom/shower building with power and hot/cold running water
