Under Alberta's Land-use Framework, the Upper Athabasca Regional Plan as well as a subsequent Upper Athabasca Regional Park Plan will be developed. Timelines for completing the draft William A. Switzer Provincial Park Management Plan have been adjusted to ensure that the conservation and recreation objectives of the management plan align with the Upper Athabasca Regional Plan and Regional Park Plan.
The Alberta Land-use Framework will be a blueprint to manage the combined impacts of all activities over the long-term, to sustain a healthy regional economy, environment, and quality of life. Seven regional plans will be developed across the province (2009 - 2012). For more information, and a map, please visit www.landuse.alberta.ca.
We received valuable public feedback for the development of the management plan which is available for downloading at: William A. Switzer Management Plan Update. This input, as well as input for other parks in the Upper Athabasca region, will be used to inform the development of the Land-use Framework Regional Plan and Regional Park Plan.
We would like to thank you for your input and interest and we encourage you to check back on this website for future updates and opportunities to provide input.
We encourage all Albertans to take an active role in planning the future of Alberta parks. Please visit Public Consultations/Notifications to learn about other opportunities.
