As part of our commitment to rebuilding flood affected facilities and to keep Albertans informed, Alberta Parks is providing notice that the Mount Romulus Backcountry Campground Flood Recovery Project is complete and the campground is open.
In 2013 heavy rains in southern Alberta caused flooding along the Little Elbow River that resulted in damage to facilities at Mount Romulus Backcountry Campground. Alberta Parks has addressed flood affected campground facilities and is opening the campground for use. Mount Romulus Backcountry Campground is located within the Elbow-Sheep Wildland Provincial Park in Kananaskis Country and provides overnight backcountry opportunities for equestrian and backpackers.
Alberta Parks upgraded the campground with a modern backcountry design including tenting and cooking separation.
