To celebrate our 50th Birthday, we have hidden 50 unique Geocoins throughout geocaches in Alberta Parks and Crown lands for you to find! These are the only coins of their kind in existence so here’s how you can get your hands on these stashed treasures.
On September 17, clues will be posted to this web page to help you find these 50 commemorative coins. The clue will include the general location where the coin is located, and an additional riddle or clue to point you in the right direction. From there it will be up to you to track them down and collect as many as you can! As always, bring a friend and never geocache alone.
When you find the cache and take your prize. Log your experience! The activity log is the perfect place to tell us how you liked a park or preserve, what you saw on the trail, and any fun anecdotes resulting from your adventure in the great outdoors. Just remember that geocaching is a family hobby and the language you use in your log should be polite and appropriate for all ages. Don’t give away too many hints! We want new geocachers to still get the thrill of the hunt!
Please do not move a cache from its original location. As part of the geocacher’s Code of Ethics, it is highly encouraged to leave something just as great when you take something from a geocache. Just never place food/candy in a cache container. It attracts animals!
We would love it if when you find the treasure, you take a picture of the numbered coin and tag us @alberta_parks on Instagram and @AlbertaParks on Facebook and Twitter with #AEP50.
