When to Make a Reservation

Alberta Parks online reservations are available to book within a rolling booking window, which is based on the day of arrival of the booking. The booking window advances one day each morning at 9:00 a.m. MT.  

Individual campsites and backcountry camping

Reservations can be made up to 90 days in advance of your arrival date. Up to 10 consecutive nights can be booked with a single reservation.  

For example, with a 90-day booking window:  

• On February 1 at 9 a.m. you can book an arrival date of May 2 with a maximum of 10 nights, departing on May 12. 
• On February 2 at 9 a.m. you can book an arrival date of May 3 with a maximum of 10 nights, departing on May 13. 

Up to 16 consecutive nights can be booked at one campsite by making multiple bookings. The day of arrival for the second booking must fall within the 90-day booking window to make your reservation.  

Comfort camping

Reservations can be made up to 180 days in advance of your arrival date. Comfort Camping can be booked up to 10 consecutive nights in a single booking.  

For example, with a 180-day rolling booking window: 

• On February 1 at 9 a.m. you can book an arrival date of July 31 with a maximum of 10 nights, departing on August 11. 
• On February 2 at 9 a.m. you can book an arrival date of August 1 with a maximum of 10 nights, departing on August 12. 

Up to 16 consecutive nights can be booked at one comfort camping location by making multiple bookings. The day of arrival for the second booking must fall within the 180-day booking window to make your reservation. 

Group camping areas

Reservations can be made up to 180 days in advance of your arrival date. The maximum stay in Group Camping Areas is 5 consecutive nights. 

For example, with a 180-day rolling booking window: 

• On February 1 at 9 a.m. you can book an arrival date of July 31 with a maximum of 5 nights, departing on August 6. 
• On February 2 at 9 a.m. you can book an arrival date of August 1 with a maximum of 5 nights, departing on August 7. 

Why are sites already reserved beyond the booking window?

Your desired reservation dates could be unavailable on the day the booking window opens due to a few possible reasons: 

The booking window only applies to the day of arrival.  A reservation with an arrival date prior to the arrival date you’ve selected can book up to 10 consecutive nights into the booking window. For example:  

• Visitor A booked a campsite for 10 nights with an arrival date of July 1. The booking window opened April 2, and they booked July 1 - 11 nights.  
• Visitor B wants to book the same campsite for July 4. The booking window opens on April 5. July 4 was already booked by Visitor A on April 2 and is unavailable. 

The arrival date selected does not fall within the campgrounds operating season. Opening dates are listed below for each campground.  

The campground or site is closed or unavailable for a period of time. This can occur due to, but not limited to, facility upgrades, necessary maintenance, local emergencies, etc.  

Restrictions on Making Changes to Reservations

To keep reservations fair and equitable, when reservations are booked with dates that fall within the booking window, campers cannot change their arrival or departure date for 31 days to avoid overbooking. 

• Campers can still cancel their reservation or change details (i.e. camping accommodation units, number of people) during this time. 
• This does not apply to reservations booked well within the booking windows. 
• Reservations cannot be moved or changed until the entire dates of stay, including the departure date, are within the booking window in order to prevent sliding.

New for the 2026 Camping Season

We’re adding select sites in three previously first-come, first-served campgrounds to Shop.AlbertaParks.ca for the 2026 camping season. 

• The new campgrounds will be available to book on March 30 at 9:00 a.m. 
• Based on the 90-day booking window, the campsites will be bookable until arrival dates of June 28. 
• Approximately 40 per cent of the campsites across these three campgrounds will remain first-come, first-served for campers this year.
