      Learn about the wildlife and cultural history of Switzer Park. Try to out leap a mountain lion, hold the skull of a grizzly, or spark a fire using flint and steel. Topics and locations vary week to week, so be sure to pick up a program schedule at Gregg Booth or the Visitor Center upon arrival, or check back here a few days in advance.

      7:30pm-8:15pm

      • This is an hour-long program at Jarvis Beach. Children must be accompanied by an adult. All events subject to change.

    • Saturday night is the biggest night in Switzer! Bring the family for a fun-filled evening of entertainment. Show types range from hands-on reenactments of the Fur Trade to Improvisational Theater. 

      The show description will be released a week in advance - be sure to check online, or pick up a program schedule from Gregg Booth or the Visitor Center.

      All children must be accompanied by an adult. All events are subject to change.

  • Cardinal Divide Butterfly Count

      JulyJuly  28, 2019
      • Take part in a fun citizen science project! We'll explore scenic alpine meadows, catch and identify butterflies, and contribute to the University of Alberta species database.
      • Meet at the Green Square in Hinton at 10:00 am (in front of the Travel Alberta Visitor Centre).
      • From Hinton, we'll drive to Cardinal Divide together to explore the alpine meadows and catch gorgeous butterflies. 
      • We supply the nets.  Please bring a lunch, water bottle, good hiking shoes, warm clothes and rain gear.  Bear spray too, if you have it! 
      • In case of rain, we'll be discovering wildflowers instead.  There's always something to explore! 
      • The event runs from 10:00 am to 4:30 pm.  Stay all day or just for a while.
