A Kananaskis Conservation Pass is required to park your vehicle in Kananaskis and the Bow Valley.
  • Construction Closure - Grassi Lakes Trails & Day Use Area

    Effective:  September 16, 2024

      • Effective Date: September 16, 2024, until further notice.
      • Where: Grassi Lakes Trails & Day Use Area.
      • Why: Grassi Lakes hiking trails, including the day use area, climbing area, overflow parking lot, Reclaimer trail, and the Riders of Rohan dam access will be closed beginning September 16, 2024 until further notice to facilitate the removal of an old communication line in the area. Due to potential overhead hazards and the presence of operational equipment, the designated project area will be unsafe while work is in progress.

  • Bear Warning - Canmore Nordic Centre

    Effective:  June 13, 2024   Updated:  September 3, 2024

      • Effective Date: June 13, 2024, until further notice
      • Where: Canmore Nordic Centre.
      • Why: Numerous black bears have been observed in the area.

    Although an advisory is in place for this area, bears can be encountered anywhere in the Kananaskis Region at any time. To avoid a surprise encounter with a bear:

    • Make plenty of noise and travel in groups.
    • Be aware of your surroundings. Look and listen for bears and their signs.
    • Keep your pet on a leash.
    • Carry bear spray. Make sure it’s easily accessible, and know how to use bear spray.
