A controlled access zone will be in place in Kananaskis from June 10–18 for the 2025 G7 Leaders’ Summit.
Travel and recreation may also be affected before and after. Check for closures before you go. More info: https://rcmp.ca/en/g7

A Kananaskis Conservation Pass is required to park your vehicle in Kananaskis and the Bow Valley.
  • Kananaskis Village Common Area G7 Closure

    Effective:  June 10, 2025

      To support the 2025 G7 Leaders’ Summit, the RCMP will establish a controlled access zone in Kananaskis from June 10 – 18. The Kananaskis Village Common Area will be closed from June 10 – 18. The Kananaskis Village Common Area means those areas of the Kananaskis Village that are not held under lease by a third party. More info: https://rcmp.ca/en/g7

      • Effective Date: March 17, 2025, until further notice
      • Where: Evan Thomas Pit
      • Why: Smoke in area, due to controlled burn of woody debris. Please do not report wildfires in the area.

  • Kovach Pond Day Use G7 Closure

    Effective:  March 10, 2025

  • Partial Closure - Bill Milne Trail Ice Flow

    Effective:  February 26, 2025

      • Effective Date:  February 26, 2025 until further notice
      • Where: A portion of the Bill Milne Trail from Mt. Allan Drive south  one kilometre.
      • Why: A large ice flow is breaking up unpredictably with the return of warm weather. Ice bridges may be prone to collapse and create steep drop offs into running water, and crossing this area of unpredictable ice and water is dangerous. Due to the large extent of ice covering the trail way-finding is difficult. There is also an increased risk of rapid snow melt, flash floods, landslides, and falling rock/snow/ice.

  • Construction Advisory - Highway 40 Corridor

    Effective:  January 31, 2025

      • Effective Date: January 31, 2025, until further notice
      • Where: Canoe Meadows Day Use Area, Barrier Lake Day Use Area, and sections of Highway 40 (between Kananaskis Emergency Services and Canoe Meadows).
      • Why: Construction crews will be working in the area on utilities and infrastructure.
