Information

    Centre Info

    • The Visitor Centre has a theatre and exhibit area, washrooms and water fountain, and a pay phone.
    • The building and surrounding pathways are wheelchair accessible.
    • The building also houses the park administration office.
    • No cooking facilities are available at this location.

     Site Info

    • The Visitor Centre is located at 15979 Bow Bottom Trail SE (Bow Valley Ranch Area Day Use).  See the Bow Valley Ranch Visitor Centre Access Map.
    • There is a large parking lot close to the Visitor Centre.  Do not leave valuables in your vehicle.
    • The closest picnic area with tables and firepits is Hulls Wood, a 15-minute walk south.  Take your own firewood, roasting sticks and a bucket for water to extinguish your fire.
    • Fish Creek and its riverine forest are a five-minute walk south of the Visitor Centre. Access to the creek is via a paved pathway.  Snow is not removed from the pathway during winter.
    • The historic Bow Valley Ranch house, bunkhouse and cookhouse add interest to the site. There is no public access to the interiors of these structures.

    (CLOSED FOR 2020) Education Programs at the Bow Valley Ranch Visitor Centre:

    The Bow Valley Ranch Visitor Centre is home to a variety of programs offered to Calgary and area schools. Park staff manage and coordinate these programs offering unique and valuable education opportunities to students, teachers and volunteers.

    The dates listed below will see classes of students utilizing the display area, washrooms and grounds in and around the Visitor Centre. Programs run from approximately 9:00 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Please be respectful of these activities and the groups participating in them. Please do not interfere with student groups or staff instructing classes.

    If you require assistance, there is a buzzer located at the front counter to alert Park staff to attend to you.

    If planning a visit with a group please look for dates not listed to avoid a crowded facility. In addition, if you are planning to visit with an organized group please complete the appropriate “Group Use Form” and return to the Park ahead of your visit.
