Where: Fish Creek Provincial Park , Sikome Aquatic Facility
Details:Located within Fish Creek Provincial Park, Sikome Aquatic Facility (Sikome) is an artificial waterbody that welcomes approximately 100,00 visitors annually. Operated seasonally for the summer months, Sikome serves as a public swimming and recreational area. Although Sikome opened to visitors in the late 1970s, it has not undergone major renovations since its initial construction. Parks Division acknowledges the importance of supporting Albertans’ ability to access parks and opens spaces for health and well-being.
Parks Division plans to update Sikome Aquatic Facility to provide a modern ‘urban’ provincial park visitor experience. Construction in support of building refurbishment at Sikome Aquatic Facility will include replacement of two existing admissions booths as well as renovation of five existing buildings:
Please the reference the Frequently Asked Questions for more information regarding plans for building modernization.
Construction for building modernization commenced in December 2025. To avoid impacts to visitors, major construction activities are occurring while Sikome is seasonally closed to visitors. It is anticipated the facility will be ready to welcome visitors in Summer 2026 (subject to change). Please stay tuned for the opening date on the Alberta Parks website.
Please note that select areas within the facility may be temporarily closed during 2026 on an as-needed basis as minor construction activities wrap-up. We recognize construction is inconvenient. However, it necessary to ensure visitor safety and support construction efficiency. Please follow all posted signage and do not cross construction barriers.
Other facilities and services in Fish Creek Provincial Park will not be impacted. Visitors looking for recreational alternatives can call the Alberta Parks Information Line at 1 (877) 537-2757 or stop by the Bow Valley Ranch Visitor Centre. Updated project information and closure details will continue to be available on our website.
Follow the direction of all signage and personnel in the area and stay out of active construction zones.
