  • Construction Advisory - Toilet Replacement 2026

      Where: Bragg Creek Provincial Park , Cat Creek Provincial Recreation Area , Fitzsimmons Creek Provincial Recreation Area , Sheep River Provincial Park

      Details:

      Alberta Parks will be conducting vault toilet replacement at six (6) locations in Kananaskis Region. Work will occur at the following locations from July 07 to August 31, 2026 (subject to change and weather dependent):

      • Bragg Creek Provincial Park: Alder Trail Day Use
      • Sheep River Provincial Park: Sandy McNabb Upper Day Use, Junction Creek Day Use, Head Office Parking Area
      • Cat Creek Provincial Recreation Area: Cat Creek Day Use
      • Fitzsimmons Creek Provincial Recreation Area: Fitzsimmons Creek Day Use

      To facilitate construction activities, heavy equipment will be working on site and some areas of parking will be temporarily closed to accommodate staging. Temporary barricades and signage will be present to delineate work areas.

      We recognize construction is inconvenient, however it is necessary to uphold public safety and to support construction efficiency.

      Follow the direction of all signage and personnel in the area and stay out of active construction zones.

  • Construction Closure - Powderface Road Parking Areas

      Effective Date: June 22, 2026 - Until Further Notice

      Where: Kananaskis Country , Kananaskis Public Land Use Zone, Lusk Pass Parking Area, Jumpingpound Summit Parking Area, Prairie Creek Parking Area, Powderface Ridge North Parking Area, Powderface Ridge South Parking Area

      Details:

      Parking areas along Powderface Road will be temporarily closed for construction.

      All trails outside the closure areas will remain open.

      The following designated trails will remain accessible by travelling around the fenced closure areas: Lusk Pass, Jumpingpound Ridge – Lusk Climb, Jumpingpound Summit, Prairie Creek, Powderface Creek, and Powderface Ridge.

      Expect increased industrial traffic on Powderface Road, and please obey all posted signage.

      Follow the direction of all signage and personnel in the area and stay out of active construction zones.

  • Closure - Special K Trail

      Where: Kananaskis Country , Special K Trail, Kananaskis Public Land Use Zone

      Details:

      The Special K Trail in Kananaskis Country Public Land Use Zone is temporarily closed due to collapsing bridges. For more information, call 310-LAND (5263) or the Moose Mountain Bike Trails Society.
