Explore the picturesque winter trails in Kananaskis Country, by snowshoe. Students will discover the survival strategies of wildlife during this full day program. Through hands on activities, games and stories, students will gain an understanding of how animals survive harsh winter conditions. Students will explore actual research techniques used by Park Ecologists to help inform management in Alberta Parks. Students learn about their own comfort in the winter and are rewarded with a great sense of accomplishment.

Snowshoeing is a fun and engaging recreational activity to explore Alberta Parks in winter. Winter Ecology is the study of interrelationships between living things and their winter context. Animals use special adaptations, identified through the SCREW factor and the science of snow. Research in Kananaskis Country supports management decisions to promote ecological integrity. |
