The Kananaskis Trails Committee (KTC)
- Is an interdisciplinary committee comprised of regional experts in the fields of ecology, planning, land-use, recreation, wildlife management, trail building/maintenance, conservation, GIS and information
- Provides direction to senior Kananaskis Country management in the Environment & Sustainable Resource Development Ministry pertaining to trails-related decision-making
- Focuses on enhanced visitor experience and collaboration with local communities, stakeholders, volunteers and government officials
There are two government ministries with land administration responsibilities in Kananaskis Country (Alberta Environment & Sustainable Resource Development and Alberta Transportation). The cooperative model of the KTC ensures that trails initiatives are managed and prioritized with a high level of input and support from stakeholders and officials responsible for lands within the Kananaskis Management Region. The KTC aims to develop and maintain a sustainable trails network which inspires people to discover, value, protect and enjoy the natural world and the benefits it provides.
