Rummel Lake Winter Backcountry Campground is found in Spray Valley Provincial Park. This is the only designated winter-only backcountry campground in Kananaskis. Here you can enjoy the peacefulness of the forest and views of Rummel Lake and Mount Galatea in any season. A great place to ski, snowshoe, and watch for wildlife.
Access: The nearest access is near Mount Engadine Lodge, 40 km south of Canmore on the Smith Dorrien/Spray Lakes Trail (Hwy. 742) via Rummel Lake Trail. The campground is 5 km one-way from the trailhead with 421 meters of elevation gain.
There are no amenities or designated sites in this campground. Winter backcountry campers need to be self-sufficient and prepared for a full range of winter conditions.
