Strawberry Equestrian Campground

Day use is permitted. Be prepared with your own hand sanitizer and toilet paper. Campgrounds are open at 50% capacity, this includes reserveable and first come, first served campgrounds. Second RV units will not be permitted on campsites, and only one household or cohort family permitted per site. Shared facilities, showers, picnic shelters and playgrounds are still currently closed. We are monitoring our actions to prevent the spread of COVID-19 and will adjust our operations as needed.

This autumn-only equestrian campground is found in Strawberry Provincial Recreation Area, 45 km southwest of Longview on Hwy. 40. On the banks of the crystal clear Highwood River, this campground offers spacious sites with equestrian users in mind. There are hitching posts, corrals and loading ramps in the campground, and easy access to trails in the vicinity.

Camping Notes

  • Regular campsites are $26/night.
  • Equestrian camping is $33/night which includes fees for 2 horses. Each additional horse costs $7/night.
  • The nearest pay phone is at Highwood House.

Water is available from a hand pump at this site. Although Alberta Parks strives to maintain water quality, we recommend that you bring your own drinking water or filter/treat water retrieved from the natural source.
