Boreal Berries: how to identify them, enjoy them, and harvest them respectfully

Join an interpreter for a guided berry walk, where you can identify common boreal forest berries and learn their stories. Come learn how to harvest respectfully, and discover the important role berries play in our shared forest community. You may even get a small taste of them yourself! Recommended for ages 8+

  • We will be walking a section of the Freighter Lakeshore Trail, no longer then 1 km, including out and back.
  • Pets are welcome but must be on leash at all times and if they are disruptive, you may be asked to take them back to your campsite.
  • Be prepared for bugs and the weather!  Bring mosquito spray, a jacket, hat, good footwear, and sun screen. 
  • Bring a water bottle and snacks.

Under the Provincial Parks Act, it is illegal to collect, remove, pick, injure, or destroy plants unless authorized by permission or disposition from a conservation officer, or through an approved Alberta Parks permit or program.
