Saskatoon Island Provincial Park is an island of forests and wetlands in a sea of farmland. Located just 15 minutes west of Grande Prairie, the park’s mosaic of forests, wetlands, shrub lands and native prairie provides habitat for an amazing variety of plants and animals. It is one of Alberta’s first provincial parks, dating back to 1932, and has been a federal migratory bird sanctuary since 1948.The park is just over 100 hectares in size and is home to large numbers of grassland, forest and lakeside birds, including the trumpeter swan. The park is situated on an isthmus between two lakes - Saskatoon Lake and Little Lake.
