Winter Ecology On Snowshoes

    Youth participants and supervisors explore Beauvais Lake Provincial Park on snowshoes, using provided snow shoe equipment!  Through interactive games and snow studies, students learn

    • How plants and animals are adapted to survive winter in the montane environment
    • To recognize animal tracks and signs during the winter
    • To enjoy some of our common winter birds and to contribute to Beauvais Lakes ebird list
    • To feel comfortable travelling on snowshoes

  • The fee includes snowshoes and adjustable poles for up to 25 people (show sizes 6 and up; weight 75-225 lbs).
  • The field study is designed for 24 students with one adult volunteer assistant for every five students.
  • In case of poor snow conditions, students can do this program wearing hiking boots instead.
  • If snowshoes aren't required, groups larger than 24 can be accommodated.  Arrangements must be made in advance, however.
