Come join us in celebrating Parks Day!


Learn to Mountain Bike: (Youth 13 – 16)8:30am - 10:00am

Want to hit the trails? Join a professional mountain bike instructor This introductory level program will erase those city cycling habits that makes trail riding so hard. Come learn about bikes, brakes, and body position before you go!
(psst – this will help you go faster too!) Ages 13 to 16, Sign up at Visitor Centre

Learn to Mountain Bike: (Adult) 10:30am - 12:00am

Have questions about mountain biking you don’t want to ask in front of kids join a professional mountain bike instructor? Do you want to be able to keep up with them, so come learn about mountain biking techniques that will help you feel more in control of your bike! Ages 16+, sign up at Visitor Centre

Drop in – Scavenger Hunt: 11:00am to 12:00am
Join us for a scavenger hunt at the main beach! This treasure hunt will have you testing your wits and looking all over. Ages 6+, Main Beach


Drop in – Beach Games: 2:30pm to 3:30pm
 Join us for beach games, Ages 6+, Main Beach

Trees and Taxonomy: 2:30pm - 4:00pm
There is something about knowing the name of plants that causes you to care more about them. Come for a walk with a local taxonomist and share knowledge, stories, and learn about this botanical island. Ages 8+, meet at Tom Trott Forestry Museum.

Learn to Canoe: 7:00pm - 9:00pm

Name something more quintessentially Canadian than Canoeing. Join us for an evening paddle on Elkwater Lake. Ages 13+, sign up at Visitor Centre

Dance of the Dark Sky: 8:30pm to 10:30pm

Rod DeVries as he takes you on a tour of the night sky in Cypress Hills Dark Sky Preserve. Discover stars, planets, and other astronomical wonders. Program runs clear skies or cloudy! Meet at the Learning Centre

Parks Day Animal Tracks:

Come find out about the animals you may find in the Cypress Hills! Who know you may discover a track or two!
Activity: Plaster Animal Tracks

Parks Day Bingo:

Grab a bingo card at the Visitor Centre, can you fill the square? All Ages, Visitor Centre

Parks Day Sidewalk Chalk Art: 1:00pm to 3:00pm

Draw your favorite picture of Alberta Parks! Join us at the Upper VC parking lot, sidewalk chalk provided. All Ages, Upper Visitor Centre Parking Lot.

Parks Day Trail Explorer:

Set out parks day pictures locations on the trail challenge people to find them all. Various trail spots around the park.
