Investigating Ecosystems

      Investigate the varied ecosystems of the Cypress Hills during this full-day field study (4-5 hrs). Depending on the grade level, up to four sites will be visited including moving water, still water, a forest, and grassland.

      • Compare and contrast biotic and abiotic features in different ecosystems
      • Use instruments and testing techniques to conduct field tests such as pH and dissolved oxygen
      • Identify and record the variety of organisms living in each ecosystem while establishing a plot or transect
      • Contrast consumption and conservation while identifying ecosystem impacts and relative health

    This program is best delivered in the Reesor Reservoir area so plan for an extra few minutes of drive time.  Please inquire about reduced options around the Elkwater townsite if necessary.
