    Great Badlands Hike

Meet by the John Ware Cabin behind the Cretaceous Cafe 15 minutes before your program.

Calling all adventurers! This lengthy hike is an exhilarating experience that takes you over steep slopes, through coulees, and deep into the badlands.
Throughout your adventure, your guide will explain why the park is one of the richest sites in the world for late cretaceous fossils! Whether it’s the fossils, the serenading songbirds or catching a glimpse of the hardy wildlife that excites you, our longest tour is aimed to satisfy your appetite (bring your own snacks though!) for knowledge both ancient and present-day.

Please read information below but book ahead by visiting our Online Tour Booking Site.

    • The hike is rated as "difficult" - over 6 kilometers through rugged badlands, often in extreme heat.
    • Participants must be at least 10 years old.  Children 10-14 must be accompanied by a paying adult. Prices are $35/Adult and $20/Youth.
    • There is a maximum of 14 participants on this hike.

  • Centrosaurus Bonebed Hike

    Sunday, August 9, 2020

Meet at Fossil House 1 on the Public Scenic Loop Road 15 minutes before your program.

This hike is your opportunity to experience the exceptional concentration of fossils that make Dinosaur Provincial Park world-famous. You will trek over sandy terrain and through grassy valleys to a former dig site - known as a bonebed - that contains the remains of hundreds of horned dinosaurs! Due to this year’s circumstances we will be exploring a new trail to the bonebed!

As you investigate the clues in the landscape, you will be challenged to explain your theory about why so many Centrosauruses perished and were fossilized in this spot.

Please read the information below but click through to our Online Tour Booking Site to see the actual tour times and book your seats ahead of your visit.

    • This program lasts 3 hours and is rated as moderate to difficult.
