Dinosaur Provincial Park is a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Most of the park is a Natural Preserve.  To protect the Natural Preserve and to ensure public safety, access is ONLY by guided interpretive programs.

We have a variety of interpretive programs for all ages - outdoors easy or strenuous, from less than one hour to multi-day.  

Please note that pets are NOT allowed on interpretive programs or in the Park Visitor Centre. Refer to our Pets in the Park info sheet.

    This adventure is your opportunity to experience the exceptional concentration of fossils that make Dinosaur Provincial Park world-famous.

    With a knowledgeable guide, you will trek over sandy terrain, over hoo-doo passes, and through grassy valleys to a former dig site (known as a bonebed) that contains the remains of hundreds of horned dinosaurs!

    This is a new trail to the Bonebed for those who enjoy a good hike! As you investigate the clues in the landscape, you will discover the ideas about why so many dinosaurs are preserved at this one unique site.

    This program is not wheelchair or stroller accessible.

    Due to content and 4 kms hike distance over rough terrain - this program is recommended for ages 10 and up.

    Join us for a badlands safari! Alongside your trusty guide, hike into the natural preserve and discover real dinosaur fossils.

    Use your eagle-eyes to spot surface fossils on the expedition. Take some cool photos with 75-million year old pieces of dinosaurs (and your family).

    In order to protect our fossil resource we do not allow digging on tours but you will get to touch and hold real fossils.

    If you are looking for a more in-depth fossil hunting experience try our Fossil Finders program as Fossil Safari is designed for families with young children.

    This program is not wheelchair or stroller accessible.

    With a knowledgeable guide, you will trek over sandy terrain, over hoo-doo passes, and through grassy valleys to a former dig site (known as a bonebed) that contains the remains of hundreds of horned dinosaurs!

    This is a new trail to the Bonebed for those who enjoy a good hike! As you investigate the clues in the landscape, you will discover the ideas about why so many dinosaurs are preserved at this one unique site.

    This program is not wheelchair or stroller accessible.

    Due to content and 4 kms hike distance over rough terrain - this program is recommended for ages 10 and up.

    Use your eagle-eyes to spot surface fossils on the expedition. Take some cool photos with 75-million year old pieces of dinosaurs (and your family).

    In order to protect our fossil resource we do not allow digging on tours but you will get to touch and hold real fossils.

    From the comfort and safety of the park bus, experience the stunning views and harsh environment of the largest badlands in Canada.

    You are on and off the bus a few times as your park guide shows you the interesting land formations and fossils including an "in-situ" hadrosaur (in the rock that it was found).
