Dinosaur Provincial Park UNESCO World Heritage Site invites your class to step back in time. We offer a range of indoor and outdoor field trips designed to inspire curiosity about Alberta’s stunning landscapes, rich natural history, and deep cultural roots.
Our Grades 2 and 3 programs are specifically aligned with curriculum ensuring a high-value educational experience that brings classroom lessons to life in the Badlands.
Booking Information
Availability
- Seasonal Dates: Programs run in mid April - June, September, and October.
- When to Book: To secure your spot, we recommend booking in early February for spring trips and May/June for autumn trips.
- Capacity: Bookings are first come, first served and subject to staff availability.

Class Size & Supervision
To provide a safe and engaging experience, we maintain the following standards:
- Supervision Ratio: A minimum of one adult (teacher or parent volunteer) for every seven students is required. Teachers and chaperones attend free of charge up to a ratio of 1:7 students.
- Group Size Limits: Maximum capacities listed include all students and chaperones. Specific limits vary by program and can be found on individual program pages.
- Large Groups: We may be able to facilitate simultaneous or consecutive sessions for groups that exceed the maximum program capacity of a program. Early booking is essential for these arrangements.
Fees & Cancellation Policy
- Finalizing your reservation: A booking (date and time) is finalized when payment for the program is received. A confirmation email is then sent along with information to help you and your students prepare for the program.
- Pricing: Program fees range from $7–$14 per student depending on program duration.
- Financial Support: Our fees are designed to be accessible. If cost is a barrier to your school’s participation, please contact us to discuss available options.
- Payment: A $10 non-refundable booking fee and full payment is due at the time of booking via credit card (Visa/MasterCard) or cheque payable to the "Government of Alberta."
- Cancellations: Program fees minus the booking fee are refundable if cancelled at least two weeks (14 days) prior to the scheduled date.
- Changes: Adjustments to student numbers must be made at least five business days in advance.

Response Time: We process requests in the order received. During our peak season (May – September), please allow up to two weeks for a response.
Field Trip Preparation
To ensure a safe and enjoyable visit, please review these requirements with students and parents:
- Mandatory Footwear: Sturdy, closed-toe, and closed-heel hiking shoes. For safety reasons, participants without proper footwear cannot join outdoor or lab programs.
- Clothing: Dress in layers for changing weather. Include a jacket, hat, and sun protection.
- Essentials: Water bottle, sunscreen, bug spray, and a nutritious lunch.
- Inclement Weather: If badlands conditions become unsafe, we will make every effort to offer your group to an engaging alternative program.
School Programs:
