Natural Region Description

Vermilion Provincial Park is located just north of the town of Vermilion. The park is set in the gently rolling terrain of the Vermilion River valley. Vermilion Reservoir is located within the park. The river meanders across a glacial melt-water channel in the park's western end. At the eastern end, the river has been dammed to create the small, shallow reservoir. North-facing valley slopes are forested with aspen; drier south-facing slopes are grasslands. Trails in the park provide access to forest, grasslands and marshes that support many species of birds and other wildlife.
