Big Island Scavenger Hunt

Sir Winston Churchill Provincial Park - Various Sites around Big Island
Learn some facts about the wildlife, plants, and this special island provincial park through an island-wide scavenger hunt! Complete the booklet and return to the store to receive a cool surprise. 

Bear Essentials
Friday, July 18: 3:30pm - 6:30pm
Lac La Biche Farmer's Market
@ Lac La Biche Agricultural Society (13412 Hwy 881)
Find a Park Interpreter at a booth at the weekly held Lac La Biche Farmer’s Market just outside the community of Lac La Biche. Learn all the “Bear Essentials” you need to know when camping and recreating in Alberta Parks this season!

Parks Day Celebration with Alberta Parks & Junior Forest Rangers
Friday, July 18: 6:00pm - 8:00pm
Amphitheatre (Campground, Loop C)
Join Alberta Parks & Junior Forest Rangers in celebrating Parks Day with a variety on interactive interpretive activities including: Circle of Forest Life family program to create a bracelet or keychain, fire awareness & bushcraft activities with JFRs, and touch & feel display of Mammals of the Boreal Forest.

Pollinators & Art in the Park
Saturday, July 19: 10:30am - 12:00pm
Amphitheatre (Campground, Loop C)
Join a Park Interpreter and learn about the important role that pollinators have in the Park. Discover who pollinators are, and why their work is so important. Even try your hand at catching some bugs, or spotting some birds, and see if you can identify them! Plus, capture your favourite through an art activity.

Welcoming back birds from near & far, and featuring others who always call SWCPP home… the great migration is in full swing and the choir is singing!

Music in the Forest w/ Melyssa Lee & band The Education Party
Saturday, July 19: doors 6:30pm, music 7:30pm

Get your tickets and come enjoy an evening of “Music in the Forest” with Melyssa Lee & band The Education Party. Tickets available online, more details visit the campground store along with the full poster of information and season line-up.

Most Alberta Parks programming is on a drop-in basis and for park visitors of ALL AGES. Children under 12 must be accompanied by an adult.
"Music in the Forest" does require tickets for attendees older than 12 years. Please visit event listing for additional details.
