  • No water at Winagami Lake starting September 5

    Effective:  September 5, 2023

      Effective Tuesday, September 5, 2023, water at Winagami Lake Provincial Park will be shut off and the shower building closed. There will be no water available from standpipes, shower building, or the sani-dump.

      The campground remains open for camping until October 9 through reserve.albertaparks.ca. Campers should plan to bring their own water for the remainder of the camping season.

  • Blue-Green Algae - Winagami Lake

    Effective:  August 9, 2023

      Please be advised that a Cyanobacterial (Blue-Green Algal) Bloom Advisory is issued for Winagami Lake, located in Winagami Lake Provincial Park.

    General precautions
    • Avoid all contact with blue green algae blooms. If contact occurs, wash with tap water ASAP.
    • Do not swim or wade in any areas where blue-green algae is visable.
    • Do not allow your pets to swim or wade in these areas or to eat fish or fish trimmings from the lake.
    • Consider limiting human consumption of fish from the lake.

    Blue-green algae bloom advisories are issued and rescinded by Alberta Health Services. Typically, advisories are lifted in late autumn, when water temperatures are so cool that blue green algae growth is no longer supported.
