Snow Science and Safety ... on Snowshoes

A Kananaskis Conservation Pass is required to park your vehicle in Kananaskis and the Bow Valley. Ice Safety: Alberta Parks does not monitor ice conditions; learn how to assess them for yourself.

Introduce your students to the ‘Science of Snow’ during this full day field program in Kananaskis Country. While snowshoeing, students will learn skills and techniques to increase their safety while travelling in mountain environments. Students will emulate what Kananaskis Country’s Mountain Rescue team does when creating avalanche forecasts by digging snow study, analyzing their data and being introduced to terrain awareness. Students truly enjoy this fun, rewarding winter experience in the mountains.
