  • Morning Kayak Lesson and Water Program

      • Join Alberta Parks staff and High Level Canoes to learn about paddling and the local natural environment
      • During the kayak lesson, you will learn all the basics of kayaking and safety on the water (Maximum 10 participants a program)
      • Participants will need to bring a change of clothes and a lunch if continuing on into the afternoon (program is approximately 1.5 hours in length)
      • High Level Canoes and Kayaks is a family owned and operated company that specializes in kayaking, canoeing and stand up paddle board lessons with certified instructors.

      Registration is required

  • Stand Up Paddleboarding Lesson and Water Program

      • Stand Up Paddleboarding lessons provide an introduction to the sport and safety on the water (Maximum 6 participants a program)
      • Program is approximately 3 hours in length
      • High Level Canoes and Kayaks is a family owned and operated company that specializes in kayaking, canoeing and stand up paddle board lessons with certified instructors.

      • Bear Safety Demonstrations 10:00 AM -2:00 PM
      • Experience a "Locked Tent" puzzle with your family! 10:00 AM -12:00 PM

      Bring drinking water, prepare for the weather with sun screen, hats or rain wear. Programs may be cancelled or relocated inside due to inclement weather

  • Tricky Tracks - Locked Tent!

      JulyJuly  21, 2019
      • Is it a wolf, a coyote or a cougar?
      • Discover the tricky tracks of the Castle Provincial Park and explore making your own.
      • Try our Locked Tent and find yourself locked inside a tent by a Park Interpreter; you will need to use your wits to find the track to freedom!

       

      This activity will be moved indoors during rainy or windy weather.

       

      • This is a drop in activity - Feel free to come and depart as needed
      • Parts of this program are not wheelchair accessible.
      • This program is available for all ages (escape tent 8+), adults must accompany children.

  • Water Walk- er: Presented by Youth Programmers

      JulyJuly  26, 2019
      • Take a walk with us and discover why water is key to the Castle.
      • We will “wet” your appetite for learning more about the wetlands, rivers and creeks that make up the Crown of the Continent.
      • This interactive, all-ages program will leave everyone with a deeper appreciation for why protection for our headwaters is so important.

      This program will be co-presented by our talented youth interns!

      • Please arrive 10 minutes prior to program start time (program is approximately 75 minutes in length)
      • This program is not wheelchair accessible.
      • This program is available for ages 6 and up, adults must accompany children.

  • Staying Found.

      JulyJuly  27, 2019
      • Ever find yourself wondering how to get around in the park or which trail junction you are at?
      • Discover how maps and compasses work and develop your sense of direction.
      • Become a map-maker, navigator and found out why it is the small details and not the birds-eye view that matters in Staying Found!
      • Build the basic skills to help you stay safe and enjoy the park.

      Come prepared for the weather and to hike on flat, uneven terrain. Bring sunscreen, water, hat, bug spray, binoculars, and sturdy shoes or boots.

  • Mindfulness in the Mountains- A Guided Meditation

      • Indulge in 45 minutes of stillness and being present in the moment in a beautiful natural setting.
      • Surround yourself with the serenades of songbirds, calming sounds of leaves in the breeze and the serenity of waves on the shore as you inhale fresh mountain air.

      • “A reel expert can tackle anything!”
      • Wade through the process of tying and casting a fishing line, while getting reeled into how to fish responsibly.
      • No Trout about it, our introduction to fishing will leave you hooked!

      • Join us in the Castle Provincial Parks to practice your key survival skills, learn how to be bear aware, and to discover the ten important items to include in your backpack for a summer hike.
      • Our experienced nature guide will share their knowledge of how to not only survive, but to thrive, in our dynamic mountain landscape.
