Walkers are best to avoid the Waskwhegan staging area in winter. Walkers can enjoy many kilometers of trails starting from the Central, Blackfoot and Islet Lake staging areas.
Blackfoot Lake staging area is only 25 minutes east of Edmonton off HWY 16, just after the Ukrainian heritage village

You can walk on any trail that doesn’t have two sets of ski tracks set on it! These tracks take a long time to get right, and staff work long hours to ensure the tracks are of high quality.
Skiers only have access have to these trails for a few months of the year, so please share the trails.
