Making, changing & cancelling reservations

Camping & lodging

All Reservations

  • Account holders are responsible for the actions of all camping party members and visitors.
  • Please review Regulations for Alberta's Provincial Parks & Recreation Areas.
  • Check-in time is 4 p.m. Checkout time for individual campsites, group camping and backcountry campsites is 2 p.m. For comfort camping, checkout time is 12 noon.
  • Each site lists the maximum number of people allowed per site, unless they are all members of the same single-family unit.
  • Reservations can only be changed or cancelled by the account holder or a pre-authorized designate.
  • Reservations cannot be transferred from one person to another.
  • As camping conditions are highly variable, the reservation fee and change fees are non-refundable except in the event of a facility closure.

Fees

  • Camping fees vary depending on facilities and services provided.
  • There is a $12 non-refundable reservation fee per reservation.
  • There is a $10 non-refundable change fee for changes.
  • All fees must be prepaid by credit card (Visa, Visa Debit, MasterCard, Debit MasterCard or American Express).
  • Discounts cannot be processed when making reservations. Applicable discounts are processed at check-in.
  • Refunds are applied to the payment method(s) used for the original transaction.

Changes and Cancellations

  • Changes are only permitted within the same provincial park or provincial recreation area.
  • Changes to camping reservations are $10/change; no charge for name or address changes, updates to the camping accommodation unit length or equipment type, number of occupants (except for backcountry camping itineraries), primary occupant information or vehicle information.
  • For reservations booked where any part of the stay falls into the maximum booking window (90 days in advance for individual campsites and 180 days in advance for comfort and group camping) campers will not be able to change their arrival or departure date for 31 days. Campers can still cancel their reservation during this time period as well as change details (i.e. camping accommodation units, number of people) by phoning the Call Centre at 1-877-537-2757. This does not apply to reservations booked well within the booking windows.
  • Reservations cannot be moved or changed until the entire dates of stay, including the departure date, are within the 90-day booking window in order to prevent sliding.

Backcountry camping permits

  • Backcountry permit reservations can be made (up to a 90 days in advance of the scheduled arrival date).
  • When you arrive at the campground tent pads are available on a first-come, first-served basis.
  • There is a limit of 3 backcountry trip reservations per transaction. There is no limit to the number of transactions.

Fees

  • Campers aged 15 and under camp for free, but still require a permit.
  • Permits for campers aged 16 and older are charged per person, per night.

  • To receive a refund of the backcountry camping fees, cancellations or reservation changes to your arrival date must be made more than 72 hours before 2 p.m. of the originally scheduled arrival date.
    • 1 night penalty if less than 72 hours but greater than 48 hrs notice before 2 p.m. of originally scheduled arrival date
    • 2 nights penalty if less than 48 hours but greater than 24 hrs notice before 2 p.m. of originally scheduled arrival date
    • 3 nights penalty if less than 24 hours notice before 2 p.m. of originally scheduled arrival date
  • Changes to reservations are $10/change; no charge for name or address changes, number of occupants, emergency contact information or vehicle information.
  • For reservations booked where any part of the stay falls into the maximum booking window (90 days in advance) campers will not be able to change their arrival or departure date for 31 days. Campers can still cancel their reservation during this time period as well as change details (i.e. number of people) by phoning the Call Centre at 1-877-537-2757. This does not apply to reservations booked well within the booking window.
  • Reservations cannot be moved or changed until the entire dates of stay, including the departure date, are within the 90-day booking window in order to prevent sliding.

Rules

  • Each camper must have a camping permit.
  • A maximum of 6 people and one tent is permitted on each site. Exceptions:
    • 2 tents are permitted per site at Big Elbow and Tombstone Backcountry Campgrounds.
    • At Mount Romulus two tents are permitted in the equestrian campground sites and on sites 9 and 10 in the regular campground; sites 1-8 do not permit two tents per site.
    • Two hammock-style tents or two bivouac bags are considered equivalent to one tent in all Kananaskis Country Backcountry Campgrounds.
  • Groups are not permitted to book more than 67% of the total sites in any backcountry campground and if the following groups size limits are to be exceeded, prior approval is required from the Regional Permit Coordinator
    • Group size limit - 35: Point, Forks, Quaite Valley, Tombstone, Mount Romulus and Big Elbow
    • Groups size limit - 15: Aster Lake, Three Isle Lake, Turbine Canyon, Elbow Lake, Jewell Bay, Lillian Lake, Ribbon Falls, Ribbon Lake

Comfort camping units

  • Comfort camping reservations can be made up to 180 days in advance of the scheduled arrival date.
  • The maximum nights reservable is 10 consecutive nights.
  • The maximum stay is 16 consecutive nights but will require multiple reservations.
  • There is a limit of 4 comfort camping reservations per transaction. There is no limit to the number of transactions.
  • There is a maximum capacity for each comfort camping unit based on size. Check the Comfort Camping summary or the specific park's comfort camping page for the maximum capacity.
  • Pets are not allowed in or around comfort camping sites.
    • Exception: At Sir Winston Churchill Provincial Park, pets are allowed in an additional camping units (trailer/tent) on site. Cabins #8 and #9 are pet friendly cabins and guests will be charged an additional non-refundable fee of $20 per stay.
  • Smoking and vaping of tobacco and cannabis is strictly prohibited inside and on the decks of comfort camping units.

Special events

  • If a comfort camping unit is being reserved for a special event, a Special Events Permit may be required.
  • If required ensure that you apply for a Special Events Permit well in advance so you have event approval before making your reservation.

  • Changes to reservations are $10/change; no charge for name or address changes, number of occupants, primary occupant information or vehicle information.

Late arrivals/no shows

  • You must notify the Call Centre at 1-877-537-2757 of a late arrival or utilize the "Notify of Late Arrival" function on Shop.AlbertaParks.ca. A late arrival is a planned arrival after 2 p.m. of the day following the scheduled arrival date.
  • If notice of a late arrival is not provided and you do not register by 2 p.m. of the day following the scheduled arrival date, the reservation is considered a "no-show" and will be cancelled. The comfort camping unit will be released for resale.
  • Up to four nights comfort camping fees will be forfeited, depending on the length of the stay.

Group camping areas

  • Group camping reservations can be made up to 180 days in advance of the scheduled arrival date.
  • Reservations for group camping areas can be made up to 24 hours in advance of 2 p.m. of the scheduled arrival date.
  • The maximum stay in a group camping area is 5 consecutive nights.
  • A minimum of 2 consecutive nights (Friday/Saturday) is required to reserve a group camping area on a weekend (this includes long weekends).
  • Only one group camping area can be reserved per park per transaction.There is no limit to the number of transactions.
  • Check-in is 4 p.m. Check-out is 2 p.m.

Fees

  • Group camping fees vary depending on facilities and services provided and the number of camping accommodation units in your group.
  • All group camping fees will be charged for a minimum of five units or ten units depending on the group camping areas selected. Fees for additional units are applicable.

Changes, Cancellations and refunds

  • To receive a refund of group camping fees, a cancellation or reservation changes must be made more than 10 days before 2 p.m. of the originally scheduled arrival date.
  • If 10 days notice is not provided, group camping fees are forfeited.
  • Changes to reservations are $10/change; no charge for name or address changes, updates to the camping accommodation unit equipment type, number of occupants or primary occupant information.
  • For reservations booked where any part of the stay falls into the maximum booking window (180 days in advance) campers will not be able to change their arrival or departure date for 31 days. Campers can still cancel their reservation during this time period as well as change details (i.e. camping accommodation units, number of people) by phoning the Call Centre at 1-877-537-2757. This does not apply to reservations booked well within the booking window.

  • A late arrival is defined as a planned arrival after 2 p.m. of the day following your scheduled arrival date.
  • If notice of a late arrival is not provided and the camper does not register by 2:00 p.m. of the day following the scheduled arrival date, the reservation is considered a "no-show" and will be cancelled. The group camping area will be released for resale.
  • The penalty for a "no show" is the same as that for a cancellation - all group camping fees are forfeited.

Special events

  • Special events range from small local/family functions (i.e. weddings, reunions) to large provincial/national/international events (i.e. Boy Scout Jamborees).
  • If you are reserving a group camping area for a special event, you may require a special event permit.
  • If required, apply for a permit well in advance so you have event approval before making your reservation. Cancellations within 10 days of your scheduled arrival date will NOT be refunded.
  • Applications for special events are accepted up to one year in advance.

Individual campsite

Individual campsites

  • Individual Campsite reservations can be made up to 90 days in advance of the scheduled arrival date.
  • The maximum nights reservable is 10 consecutive nights.
  • Campers can stay for a total of 16 consecutive nights in an individual campsite; however, multiple reservations must be made.
  • There is a limit of 4 campsite reservations per transaction. There is no limit to the number of transactions.
  • Groups requiring more than 4 campsites should consider reserving a group camping area.
  • For campsites that can accommodate a second accommodation unit, a second camping fee will be charged unless one or both of the accommodation units on a campsite are tents. The maximum number of camping accommodation units, motor vehicles, and towed equipment permitted on a campsite is three, and only two of these may be used as sleeping quarters (accommodation units).
  • Check-in is 4 p.m.
  • Check-out is 2 p.m.

Changes, Cancellations and refunds

  • To receive a full refund of your camping fees, cancellations or reservation changes must be made more than 72 hours before 2:00 p.m. of the originally scheduled arrival date.
    • 1 night penalty if notice is less than 72 hours but more than 48 hours before 2:00 p.m. of the originally-scheduled arrival date.
    • 2 nights penalty if notice is less than 48 hours but more than 24 hours before 2:00 p.m. of the originally-scheduled arrival date.
    • 3 nights penalty if notice is less than 24 hours before 2:00 p.m. of the originally-scheduled arrival date.
  • Changes to reservations are $10/change; no charge for extending your stay, name or address changes, updates to the camping accommodation unit length or equipment type, number of occupants, primary occupant information or vehicle information.

  • Guests may have 1 reservation for up to 7-days in the summer season, and a maximum of 2 reservations for up to 7-days in the winter season. Guests may have a maximum of 2 reservations for a combined 14 days in the campground.

Sikome Aquatic Facility

Reserving daily admission tickets

  • Admissions are processed on a first come, first served basis at all gates.
    • Gate hours may vary daily and are based on weather and operational requirements.
  • With the exception of family passes, all rates are per person. Prices exclude GST.
  • All members must be present when paying family admission fees. Late arrivals will be charged the applicable daily admission ticket rate.
  • Group rates, reservations and pay in advance admissions are not available.
  • Sikome Aquatic Facility accepts cash, debit or credit card for payment.
  • Sikome Aquatic Facility accepts CANOO for new Canadian citizens and the City of Calgary Fee Assistance Card.

Cancellations/refunds

  • Admission fees are not refunded for any reason.

Sikome Aquatic Facility preparations

  • To meet supervision requirements, a minimum of 1 adult for every 5 children under the age of 12 is required.
    • It is recommended that all children and individuals unable to swim utilize an approved FDA personal flotation device. A limited number of life jackets are available on site for free use through the Lifejacket Loaner Station program.
    • Parents must be within arm’s reach of children 7 years of age and under at all times.
    • Children 12 years of age and under must be accompanied by an adult (18+) to enter the facility.
    • Adults must remain with children for the duration of the visit.
    • All children under 3 years of age must wear an appropriate swim diaper and plastic pants while in the water.
  • Voluntary bag checks are conducted prior to entry.
    • Unchecked bags are not permitted in the facility.
  • Pets are not permitted.
    • Guide and assisted living dogs are permitted. Assistance dogs must be on a leash at all times and are not permitted in the water.
  • Alcohol, cannabis, and smoking are not permitted.
  • Glass or breakable containers (e.g. ceramics) are not permitted.
  • Propane gas barbeques are permitted on grassed areas only. Set up is not permitted on paved walkways or Gate A (Main) seating area. Wood or charcoal/briquette barbeques are not permitted.
  • Fully enclosed tents are not permitted. Large stand-up style canopies are permitted on the south half of the facility. These units must be set up on grassed areas and properly secured. Set up is not permitted on the sand.
  • Only small inflatables and plastic beach toys are allowed.
  • The following items are NOT allowed for use at Sikome:
    • scuba and snorkeling masks
    • large rafts, paddles, skim boards, paddle boards and hard bottomed boats (kayaks, canoes, etc.)
    • mermaid style swim fins that bind feet together
    • metal shovels or gardening tools
    • bikes, rollerblades, skateboards and scooters
    • drones, kites, remote controlled airplanes and toys
    • sports equipment (baseball bats, golf clubs, croquette mallets, etc.)

Canmore Nordic Centre

Annual biathlon range passes

Purchasing a biathlon range pass allows you to access the Canmore Nordic Centre Provincial Park (CNCPP) Biathlon Range as well as the Ruedi Setz Memorial Range (located at Mt. Shark in Spray Valley Provincial Park). The pass holder must be under the supervision of a Canmore Nordic Centre Range Safety Officer at all times while using either biathlon range. An additional permit is required for the Ruedi Setz Memorial Range.

Range lanes can only be booked by certified Canmore Nordic Centre Range Safety Officers. To submit a request to book lanes please email cnc.biathlon@gov.ab.ca.

Pick-up instructions

NOTE: The CNCPP administration team will process passes 48-hours after the time of purchase. Passes can be picked up any time after the 48 hour period (business hours are 9 am - 5 pm).

Pick up your annual pass at the Canmore Nordic Centre Day Lodge. Bring a piece of photo ID that shows your date of birth and either a printed copy of your receipt or display the confirmation email on your smartphone.

If your first practice occurs after hours, a coach or club parent may pick up the biathlon range pass provided that the Biathlon Range Agreement has been signed and emailed to the Canmore Nordic Centre. If we do not have a signed copy of the Biathlon Range Agreement at the time of pickup, we will not issue the pass and you will not be permitted to use the biathlon range.

Rules & conditions

The annual biathlon range pass purchased is not valid unless the Canmore Nordic Centre receives a copy of the signed Biathlon Range Agreement, either in person or electronically.

All range use must be booked in advance with the Canmore Nordic Centre by a Range Safety Officer. All range users must be under the supervision of an approved Range Safety Officer. To use the Ruedi Setz Memorial Range, a Canmore Nordic Centre Range Safety Officer must request a Letter of Authorization and Firearms Discharge Permit at least 48 hours in advance.

Refunds:

  • This pass is non-transferable and non-refundable.

Frozen Thunder reserved track time - Monday-Sunday 7:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m.

  • Skiers must purchase and wear a Bib to use Frozen Thunder during reserved track time, as well as a Canmore Nordic Centre trail pass, which can be purchased at the day lodge or online. (Ski Memberships only for online sales). Anyone not wearing a bib or without a trail pass during reserved scheduled times will be asked to leave the Track even if they are a member of a funding partner
  • Reserved time periods have high performance athletes training at high speed and intensity. Slower skiers MUST yield to faster skiers so as not to interfere with or impede this training.
  • Non-reserved Frozen Thunder track times: Monday – Sunday from 12:00 p.m. – 11:00 p.m.
    • Users do not require a bib to ski during this time period.
    • A Canmore Nordic Centre trail pass is required to ski between 12:00 p.m.– 5:00 p.m.
    • Use of Frozen Thunder after 5:00 PM is free.

Hidden Valley Ski Resort

Daily admission tickets

  • Guests may reserve daily admission tickets up to two weeks in advance.
  • Daily capacity is 600 public and 200 corporate tickets.
  • Children under the age of 5 ski for free; however, a daily admission ticket is still required.

Annual memberships

  • Individual membership
    • Individual membership gives access to a discounted daily admission price.
  • Family membership
    • Family is defined as 2 adults and up to 4 children/youth aged 17 or under.
    • Family membership gives access to a discounted daily admission tickets.
  • Corporate membership
    • Corporate membership gives businesses and high volume (150 plus) users access to a discounted daily admission tickets.

Cancellations/refunds

  • Daily admission tickets
    • Daily admission tickets are non-refundable and not transferable.
    • We reserve the right to close lifts due to extreme weather and temperatures (-25 degrees not including wind chill). Should this occur during an operational day, refunds will automatically be issued to daily admission ticket holders.
    • In the event of a partial lift closure, refunds will not be issued unless the disruption exceeds four hours.
  • Memberships
    • Memberships are non-refundable and not transferable.

Bow Habitat Station

Reserving tickets

  • In person at the Discovery Centre when open
    • Individuals with the CANOO card for new Canadian citizens, Access2Entertainment card, or the City of Calgary Fee Assistance/Fair entry card are recommended to purchase tickets at the site.

Cancellations

  • Bow Habitat Station reserves the right to cancel or change program activities due to unexpected business interruptions and/or severe weather warnings issues by environment Canada.
  • In the case of a weather event, outdoor activities may be substituted for indoor inclement weather plans.
  • Daily admission tickets are non-refundable and non-transferable.

Alternate programming

  • Where possible, alternate activities may be substituted and/or activities rescheduled to a later date.

Tour preparations

  • It is recommended to arrive 10-minutes ahead of your booking time. Late admittance to Guided Fish Hatchery Tours is not permitted.

Dinosaur Provincial Park

Reserving tickets

  • There is a $5.00 non-refundable reservation fee for booking by phone or online.
  • We strongly recommend reserving tickets for interpretive programs well in advance of your visit, especially if you are planning to visit the park in July or August.
  • Some programs have age restrictions. These restrictions are strictly adhered to. Please visit albertaparks.ca/dinosaur for detailed information about all programs.

Cancellations/refunds

  • Participants may cancel up to 48 hours before the event of regular programs and receive a refund of their program fee.
  • For Guided Excavations, participants may cancel at least 2 weeks prior to the scheduled start of the program and receive a refund of their program fee.
  • No refunds are provided if participants cancel less than 48 hours prior to the program start time for regular programs, or less than 2 weeks for Guided Excavations.
  • The $5 reservation fee is non-refundable.
  • Refunds are NOT given for air quality, car trouble, getting lost or weather when the program proceeds as scheduled.
  • If you have reserved online, program cancellations may be completed online at Shop.AlbertaParks.ca or by phoning 403-378-4342.
  • If you have reserved at the Visitor Centre, refunds must be completed at the Visitor Centre in person.

Alternate programming

  • In the event of unsafe conditions (rain, extreme heat, etc.) programs may be cancelled or an alternate program may be offered.
  • If a program is cancelled full refunds will be provided.

  • All outdoor programs require sturdy (closed toe, heel, and sides) footwear suitable for hiking. No sandals, flip-flops or Crocs.
  • Bring at least one litre of water and a sun hat for each person.
  • Soft drinks and juices are not recommended to replace water. All drinks must be in resealable bottles. No cans please.
  • Insect repellent and sunscreen are recommended.
  • Please arrive at your tour meeting point at least 15 minutes prior to your program start time. You do not require a printed ticket unless you reserved in person at the Visitor Centre.
  • No smoking or pets permitted.

Writing-on-Stone Provincial Park
