Kootenay Plains Provincial Recreation Area offers a unique group camping experience, often revisited as a long-standing tradition. The overall site is arranged in an oval shape featuring eight distinct group sites.
Cavalcade Group Area 3 provides an open grassy area that can accommodate a maximum of 20 camping units. The site features a mix of gravel and grass, a fire pit, a nearby non-potable water pump, and has access to a shared vault toilet with Cavalcade Group Area 2. Note that there is no cook shelter on this site and there is a public trail behind the Group Use Area that provides access to a climbing area along the ridge.
Most notably, the location provides stunning, expansive vistas of the surrounding mountain ranges, ensuring a truly memorable outdoor experience.
Please ensure you bring firewood, drinking water, and a map of the area if you plan to visit as no services are available, and there is no cell phone reception. Firewood purchases can be organized with the facility operator with proper notice ahead of your reservation.
