A Kananaskis Conservation Pass is required to park your vehicle in Kananaskis and the Bow Valley.

Rummel Lake Winter Backcountry Campground is found in Spray Valley Provincial Park. The nearest access is near Mount Engadine Lodge, 40 km south of Canmore on the Smith Dorrien/Spray Lakes Trail (Hwy. 742). The campground is about 5 km from the trailhead. This is the only designated winter-only backcountry campground in Kananaskis. Here you can enjoy the peacefulness of the forest and views of Rummel Lake and Mount Galatea in any season. A great place to ski, snowshoe, and watch for wildlife. 

This trail is 5 km one way with 421 meters of elevation gain.

* Reservations can be made 90 days in advance of arrival date.
* A maximum of 6 people and 1 tent is permitted on each site with some exceptions.
