Jr./Sr. High program requests for the upcoming 2024-2025 academic year will begin on June 5, 2024.

NOTE: The following information does not refer to “Learning Naturally” program schools.

Park directed Elementary Programs available in 2024 – 2025 are:
- Gr. 2/3 – Parks, People, Plants, and Animals
- Gr. 4 – Structured for Survival
- Gr. 4/5 – Nature’s Curiosities (Winter, Nov. – March)
- Gr. 5/6 – Weather, We Like It
- Gr. 6 – Investigating Ecosystems (Fall, Sept., Oct.)
These elementary programs will be available for the period of September 23, 2024 to March 14, 2025. Bookings will open on September 16, 2024.

Other Options for Schools

Come to the Park Without a Program

School groups are welcome to come to the park without a program. Please keep in mind that park day use areas and facilities (picnic areas, washrooms, pathways) are not designed for large groups. Avoid bringing multiple classes or entire class cohorts on trips as areas cannot handle these large numbers.

Consider booking a Glennfield Group Use Site for larger groups. You can find information on Group Site reservations - HERE.
We ask that teachers NOT visit or conduct their own programs in the Shannon Terrace area. This area is already very busy with groups booked into Park operated school programs.

For Scheduled School Programs

Teacher Orientations

Elementary teachers are required to attend a program workshop after a school booking is made. The workshop:

Familiarizes teachers with the facility, pathways and site.
Introduces program materials, equipment and activities.

Logistics

Elementary programs are teacher-led, with support from Park staff.
Staff provide an orientation to students and adult volunteers. The orientation introduces the value of parks, park rules, safety messages and pathways.
Equipment for the students to use during the activities is provided.
At Fish Creek Environmental Learning Centre, each group has a classroom to use as a base for the day.
