Features

    Situated on the shore of the Spruce Coulee Reservoir, this hut offers beautiful scenery at your doorstep, access to hiking, biking trails, fishing, stargazing, and wildlife viewing.

    This hut can accommodate 6 people with two bedrooms and a sitting/eating area. There is no lighting or electrical outlets, but there is a wood stove for cozy winter nights. There are outhouses in the campground. The hut is approx. 14km east of the Elkwater town site and 200m from the Spruce Coulee campground.

    There is no vehicle access to Spruce Coulee Hut from the parking area. Summer Access - Parking is available in the Spruce Coulee Campground parking lot and the hut is located approximately 200m walk from the parking area. A wagon is provided for campers to transport their belongings from the parking area to the hut (summer only). Winter Access – Parking is available at the Reesor Viewpoint, approximately 4.5km by ski or snowshoe.

Rules

    • Payment and check-in/check-out is at the Campground Registration Booth (Visitor Centre, Sept-May).
    • Check-in time is 4:00 pm.  Early check-in is not guaranteed.
    • Check-out time is 12:00 noon.  Late check-out is not available.
    • Late Arrivals: If you are arriving after our hours of operation, please call ahead to the Visitor Centre to make special arrangements to access your comfort camping unit.  
    •  Cancellation policy: Cancellations must be made at least 72 hours prior to 2 p.m. on the day of check-in.  Cancellations may only be done by contacting the Reservation Line at 1-877-537-2757 or online at Reserve.Alberta.ca
    • Pets are not allowed in or around the buildings (with the exception of service dogs).
    • Smoking and/or vaping of tobacco and cannabis is strictly prohibited inside the buildings.

    • Cooking stove and fuel
    • Firewood (*provided November 1 - April 30)
    • Food and water
    • Bedding/sleeping bag
    • Towels and toiletries
    • Matches and newspaper for lighting the wood stove
    • Flashlights and/or lanterns
    • Appropriate clothing and footwear
    • Cell phone

Please Note

    • There is no drinking water on-site, bring your own.
    • Dispose of grey water (e.g. dish water) in the outhouse.
    • Pack out all garbage.
